A big YES for the McKeowns Price Guide...

If and when you need a guide on old camera equipment, and get a fair idea of what you're after or want to sell has none, or signifivant value, this is definitely the book you going to want to own. Has an enormous amount of equipment and you won't miss much! 100% of all collectible or non-collectible camera equipment it doesn't cover, but there won't be any book that ever will. This is your best bet, guaranteed!
If you are just interested in old camera equipment, this book will keep you going for hours at the time, but what's more, you will grab it over and over again in years to come. A normal book you read once, when it's a good one possibly more than once... but you'll never stop turning the approximately 1250 (!) pages the McKeown's price guide to Antique and Classic cameras offers you. I bought mine in 2005, so ten years later I can safely make that statement...
One thing I have to say though, it might not be 100% accurate on specifications, as in the 2005/2006 version, McKeowns still ensisted that the Contax RTS 1, a camera released in 1976, has a CDS lightmeter, while the RTS was actually the first camera where the revolutionary fast Silicon photo diode was used to measure the light! Then I guess the specs are not the main concern when creating a book about equipment value. I can recommend this book, with no hesitation!

The "Camera Bible" for serious camera collectors/retailers!

I am a retired public school art teacher who also taught black & white film photography classes years ago. I collect vintage and antique film and cine cameras as a long time hobby. I have a decent collection of several hundred cameras and some collecting guidebooks. I considered several of my books to be OK but since I purchased my first copy of McKeown's Guide to Antique and Classic Cameras, I don't even look at the other books now that I have this amazing and very easy to read comprehensive camera collectors guidebook. I now consider all of my other camera books "comic books" in comparison to McKeown's! I could go on and write pages of beaming review complements but in a nutshell, there is no better book for anyone who is starting out or a serious camera collector and/or retailer who wants the only book you will ever need with the possible exception of future issue releases. My only small suggestion to the publisher because the book is so massive and not cheap; is a consideration of a periodic condensed "update supplemental booklet" when new cameras and prices are added vs a whole new book for those who already own a copy. Other than that I could not be happier!

The standard reference on old cameras.

This is the most recent update to the best work I know on old still cameras. It adds considerable data to the earlier versions.
As film photography passes from everyday life to a specialist hobby and film cameras move from being utilitarian tools to being collectors' items, this edition of this book may stand (as there's been no update for seven years) as the definitive work for collectors and historians. I'm not sure the prices are at all accurate, but, as a collector, I don't use this as a price guide but as a research tool.
