About the Author
Elizabeth Driver is an editor and writer who has spent over twenty years researching the culinary history of Canada and Britain. She is fascinated by the history of food and an avid collector of cookbooks and antique kitchenware. Elizabeth lives with her husband and two children in Toronto, where she is the Foodways Program Officer at Mongomery's Inn museum. She demonstrates such historic techniques as cooking on an open hearth, returning home most days with the smell of wood smoke on her clothes.

Wonderful Sounding Recipes I'll start up the oven soon

I really like it. It's not a large book and has a soft binding so that it's easy to put in your purse and take with you. Because of the location of Canada they probably bake more during their extended cold weather. There's lots of hints and really educational things that I've never heard of and I worked in the school cafeteria (cook) for a couple of years way back when they didn't use fast food. I learned there the accuracy of weighing ingredients. A few of the recipes are weighed or some are a mixture of both weight and measure. These people offer lots of what I call 'pearls' when you're wanting a really good recipe. Five Roses is the brand of flour. I learned about 20 years ago (I'm now almost 70) that you need to use the type flour for the type of baking you're doing. This is also something fun to look into. I have yet to try any of the recipes but I'm going to order some of the flour tho it's a little pricey and give it a try. It's still a little hot here in OK. If you like to cook or should I say bake I think you would like this cook book.

I really wanted the french version of this book as my mother owned it for years. But I am just as happy to have an english version of this book. Bought a the same version for my mom since she lost her original french version. I remember the pancakes she made from this book. They are a treasured memory for me and my family
