This is a great book. Through an easy Step by Step process the author helps you to plan and protect yourself from the scenarios that most entrepreneurs like to ignore.

Things like how to plan for your exit, or the dissolution of a partnership, how to protect the business's cash-flow so you can protect your family, How to protect the value of the business that you have created and how to use your business' cash-flow to to diversify your investments and your assets to protect you from the risk that comes from having all your eggs in one basket.
All entrepreneurs take risks, I just didn't know how important or simple it is to hedge those risks and protect my families lifestyle.

It's an easy read, with easy solutions that can make a really big difference for any business owner. I think its a must read (and then act).

Good if this is your first approach to ISO 9001

I have been working with ISO 9001 for over a decade, and I was expecting specifics, tips and examples to achieve a successful transition from 2008 to 2015. Instead of that I found a text oriented to explain the implementation process in general terms. I had the impression they used the same book for the previous ISO norm and just changed the title.
If this is your first approach to the norm, the book will give you a good orientation. If you have previous ISO 9000 running, will not do the job.

Karlyn Kohrs Campbell (PhD, University of Minnesota) is Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Minnesota. She is the author of MAN CANNOT SPEAK FOR HER: A CRITICAL STUDY OF EARLY FEMINIST RHETORIC (1989) and co-author of DEEDS DONE IN WORDS: PRESIDENTIAL RHETORIC AND THE GENRES OF GOVERNANCE (1990), PRESIDENTS CREATING THE PRESIDENCY (2008), and THE INTERPLAY OF INFLUENCE: NEWS, ADVERTISING, POLITICS, AND THE MASS MEDIA (6th ed., 2006). She is editor of CRITIQUES OF CONTEMPORARY RHETORIC (1997, 2003), WOMEN PUBLIC SPEAKERS IN THE UNITED STATES, 1800-1925 (1993), and WOMEN PUBLIC SPEAKERS IN THE UNITED STATES, 1925-present (1994). Awards include a fellowship at the Shorenstein Center of the Kennedy School at Harvard, the National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar Award, the Lauren Ecroyd outstanding teacher award, the Woolbert Award for scholarship of exceptional originality and influence, Golden Anniversary Monograph Award, and the University of Minnesota 2002 Distinguished Woman Scholar in the Humanities and Social Sciences. She has taught at Macalester College; The British College at Palermo, Italy; California State University at Los Angeles; SUNY at Brockport and at Binghamton; City University of New York; University of Kansas; and Dokkyo University, Tokyo, Japan.

Susan Schultz Huxman (PhD, University of Kansas) is President and Professor at Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, Ontario. Her first academic appointment as director of the Public Speaking program was with Wake Forest University. She won numerous teaching awards in her twenty-year career at Wichita State University (WSU). Before accepting the presidential post in Canada, she served as Director of the Elliott School of Communication at WSU and regularly taught honors public speaking, rhetorical criticism, research methods, and strategic communication in organizations. In her current post, as time permits, she teaches special courses and workshops in rhetorical theory and criticism and leadership and crisis communication. An active scholar, she has published in the field of rhetorical criticism and U.S. public address. A new book, LANDMARK SPEECHES IN U.S. PACIFISM, is in press with Texas A & M University Press. She engages in a range of professional speaking and consulting opportunities each year to advance the discipline, develop support for the college, and showcase scholarship in action.

I teach this book and it is remarkably good

I use the book Rhetorical Act in my Speech Writing and Criticism class at the University of Texas. The book is not intended to be a basic public speaking book but an in-depth and more philosophical and theoretical understanding of what it means to be a citizen and how we use public discourse to shape ourselves and society. It is a book not only about crafting your own rhetorical acts but understanding the public discourses of others around us. The book is well loved by my students even though it is challenging because it provides a sense of how consuming political rhetoric and producing it are interrelated, and how recognizing excellence and ethics in others' speech can inspire our own. Please don't take the criticisms of other readers, who are clearly looking for a different kind of book or perhaps were in classes that used this one in a different way, at face value. It's a valuable resource for anyone who wants to understand what rhetoric is and why it is crucially important to our lives.

The Twelfth International Workshop on Maximum Entropy and Bayesian Methods in Sciences and Engineering (MaxEnt 92) was held in Paris, France, at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), July 19-24, 1992. It is important to note that, since its creation in 1980 by some of the researchers of the physics department at the Wyoming University in Laramie, this was the second time that it took place in Europe, the first time was in 1988 in Cambridge. The two specificities of MaxEnt workshops are their spontaneous and informal charac� ters which give the participants the possibility to discuss easily and to make very fruitful scientific and friendship relations among each others. This year's organizers had fixed two main objectives: i) to have more participants from the European countries, and ii) to give special interest to maximum entropy and Bayesian methods in signal and image processing. We are happy to see that we achieved these objectives: i) we had about 100 participants with more than 50 per cent from the European coun� tries, ii) we received many papers in the signal and image processing subjects and we could dedicate a full day of the workshop to the image modelling, restoration and recon� struction problems.

About the Author
Dr Tony Merna, BSc, MPhil, PhD, graduated with a degree in Business Studies from Salford University. He gained a Master of Philosophy degree from UMIST for his work on risk management in corporate organisations. Tony recently graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from UMIST for his research into the assessment of risks in portfolios of projects. Tony is currently working for Oriel Group Practice, a multi-disciplinary consultancy and research organisation based in Manchester.

Dr Faisal F. Al-Thani, BSc, MSc, PhD, is Deputy General Manger and Assistant Operations Manager of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Qatar. A petroleum engineer by profession, he has over 19 years’ experience in the planning, design, operation, maintenance and finance strategies of oil and gas projects. This is the first daily readings guide book for family and friends of alcoholics I used in my recovery in al-anon. It is filled with the greatest wisdom, empathy, warmth and love I have ever encountered. I have been referring to it daily for 12 years. I read the date to begin my day and by topic to meet all my needs. It is a book that does give courage, strength and hope to all whose lives have been affected by alcoholism and gives a guide for living for those of us who know we are going to live, but don't know how.

Focused on the wives of alcoholics

I agree with the reviewer who found this book a little harsh. The advice is "old school" al-anon -- focused on the wife of an AA member. It's all about becoming more agreeable, not arguing with him, not complaining when he spends all his time in AA. If you are an adult child of an alcoholic, there is precious little advice for you here. You might want to check out HOPE FOR TODAY or COURAGE TO CHANGE.

Keeping it simple

I went to my first Al-Anon meeting 25 years ago. I consider "One Day At A Time" one of the greatest books ever written. It helped me to change my life for the better and I am convinced that it actually saved my life. Alcoholism is often a chronic condition; those who live with active alcoholics know too well how lonely and isolating it can be. The "ODAT" helps to restore a sense of well-being in what can be a chaotic home environment.
